We are a group of ophthalmologists who have undergone additional years of specialty training in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries involving the back of the eye, especially the retina.

Common retinal diseases include :

  •    Diabetes
  •    Age Related Macular Degeneration
  •    Retinal Tears and Detachments
  •    Vascular Occlusions
  •    Epiretinal Membranes
  •    Macular Holes
  •    Retinal tumors/Melanoma
  •    Uveitis and Intraocular Inflammation
  •    Complications of Cataract Surgery
  •    Ocular Trauma
  •    Posterior Vitreous Detachment with Floaters
  •    Unexplained vision loss

What to expect on your first visit:

Examination of the retina and the posterior segment of the eye requires dilation of the pupil. Many patients experience difficulty with bright light, driving and reading for several hours after having their eyes dilated. Please bring a driver with you to your exam so that your return home will be safe and comfortable.

New patient visits frequently require one to two hours.  If additional testing and treatment are required, then the visit can take even longer.  Please plan your visit accordingly.  We will do our best to accomplish as much as possible during each visit.    Feel free to let us know if you have any scheduling conflicts and we will do all that we can to reschedule your visit.

We thank you for allowing us to help with your eye care needs and look forward to serving you.

Patient Portal

Retina Specialists of North Alabama, LLC is happy to introduce to our patient services, Patient Portal, a new easy-to-use, secure, web-based method for patients to access portions of their medical records on-line. Questions may be submitted online through the Patient Portal. Register for the Patient Portal at your appointment and you may have access to these services. Further information regarding the functions of the Patient Portal will be available online when you access your Patient Portal account.
